Lindsay J Ralph & the East Coast Trail

Could someone tell us how two wedding photographers, who are by nature of our work wired to be hyper conscious of time, who have never been so much as 2 milliseconds late to a ceremony, allowed 3 hours to pass in the Bell Island ferry line without noticing? Well, we’re guilty. By nature of getting lost in our car chats (first mistake) and the false optimism that if we “just wait a little longer of course the ferry will run” (second mistake), it took us nearly 3 hours to realize we would not be getting to Bell Island where we had planned for her branding session. By the time we realized it was a lost cause, we only had an hour of daylight. But we improvised, took to a section of the east coast trail in Pouch Cove, and created a soft set of images with the light we had left. With the session cut short though, we decided to do a “part 2” later in the autumn, this time the challenge being the frigid November cold of a coast side valley that both of us decided was worth the pain for the beauty.

These images were made with a little grit and a lot of time spent on the trails talking, getting to know the mind and heart behind Lindsay’s beautiful work (here), how much she cares about her clients and telling their stories honestly, and her unfolding vision for her business. I always feel privileged to photograph another photographer, and I’m so grateful for the trust and openness Lindsay brought to this session. I’m equally grateful to have made a fast friend and connect with another photographer who shares so many aligned values in her work. Life is sweet like that sometimes.
