Diary of the Open Road: Day Five
The Rossborough brothers.
In the first handful of days of travel, I have been overwhelmed by the kindness of people who's paths we've crossed. We actually haven't slept in the van yet because people have been so generous and hospitable to open up their homes to us.
And so was the case with Alec and Austin. They handed over their apartment keys to people they had never met before and offered their friendship freely. The three and a half hours worth of good conversation over good coffee this morning has probably provided me with enough journal material for the next three months.
I originally got connected with Austin and Alec through Instagram. We've shared a mutual respect for one another's work for quite a while, and when our suggested route towards the west coast passed right through Columbus, Ohio, I knew I had to take the opportunity to meet them, and I'm so glad it all came about!
It always blows my mind how interconnected our lives can become with people who we are not likely to meet. And yet, we do. That is easily the thing I am most excited for in the coming days of this trip. The real life interactions, conversations. The people I'll meet that will become part of this story in the smallest and most significant of ways.
To Austin and Alec, thank you for your kindness. Thank you for opening your home to us. Thank you for being you.
